Today Mrs Carroll told us about where she works. She works at a special school in Mangere called Refugee Resettlement Centre. The Refugee Resettlement centre is a school where refugees from different countries come to school for six weeks before they go to their new homes somewhere in New Zealand. Most of the refugees didn't speak english when they arrived and some of them have not been to school very much. I have learnt about what Refugees and Migrants mean and what's the difference. Refugees are people that had to flee their homes to the closest country and Migrants are people who have time to think about where they want to go.
